Thanks to an on-going thread on one of my lists, a thread that appears every so often every yr and casues my Blood-pressure to skyrocket I’m writing this entry…
I Believe that there is one “Tru” Test of “Heathen-ness”. That is, when Death is close, will you still be Asa-Tru? For most Heathens this is a vague and distant concept, perhaps this is why so many will “mush-mouth” their Beliefs to avoid feeling Uncomfortable(even though they will state that they are doing it for Others, they are Truly doing it for themselves in the vast Majority of cases. If no one has Died finding out that a child/relative is Gay, a different religion is nothing in comparison. After all, you used to be a Christian and in their minds you will be again after you stop “playing around”…). Sure, at moots and on lists they’re all “Fire and Ice + Cold Steel” but with friends, family and co-workers they’ll “keep the Peace” by allowing Others to Walk all over them with theirs. I Know of Warrior Heathens who Spout Martial Prowess but will go to Church so as not “Upset anyone”. A fine Example of Germanic Manhood…
If One is afraid to stand up to “Auntie Edna”, what of Death? If your Tru-ness is such that you’re afraid folks you see every yr or so will find out you’re a Heathen, what happens when you’re down to your own “Last Days”? Will you Speak the Words the Church had Our Heathen Ancestors Speak before your Last Breath, or will you Remain Tru?
Think About It…
Troth,
Patrick Thomas Duffy(who plays Frisbee and “Fetch” with Garmr on average of once a yr for the last 8….)
