It Continues....
Jan. 5th, 2008 08:56 am2008's so far just peachy. The Freeze was a bit more than folks expected. So much so that even in my greenhouse, even with it's heater anything within 3' of the glass is now mush. What really stinks(well, all of it really does;>)is that the stuff I took Cuttings from beforethe last Freeze got too big forthe windowsills in the house so I'd moved them out into the greenhouse...where now most ofthem look like an old lettuce in the crisper....
The drier also stopped drying. Did all the "guy" things; openned everything I could to see if there was a blockage, checked wires to see if any had vibrated loose, kicked it;>), etc. No such luck. The landbro is going to have his guy come over sometime next week. Considering how Dry the air is now, just hanging something up for a couple hrs does the trick. If we have to, there's always the folks....
So far the only bright spot is discovering another time-wasting Anime on Fansub. SInce I can only play avi files(have to get my nephew next time to help. He's a bigger Anime nut than me!, I'm limited to those in that format. One I did find is 'Denno Coil'. Set in the near Future,we've become even more "wired' and "online". Instead of phones,PDA's and such, folks wear glasses that act as recievers for all the broadcast/net/etc. A glassesless person sees a boring street. One with sees signs, info kiosks and can simply manifest vertual terminals anywhere. Even pets are virtual. The story is around a new girl to a town that appearently is more "wired" than others. Viruses have forms and Anti-virus software does as well. One form is seen as a Giant clawed figure with a Happy Face that basically stamps out any Illegal programs, which includes a lot that teens use(they're using Adult programs which are Illegal for non Adults). WHile Physically trhey can't damage you, they Delete the files attached to you, basically wiping out your personal "life".A lot of fun, esp the Granny who used to be a Hacker "back in the day" who runs a shop of Illegal software for kids....
