Addiction....
Jan. 4th, 2014 06:34 amThis yr, instead of restaurant gift cards, my brother and his wife gave prepaid credit cards as presents. This is great because we're old Queens and by the time we think of the trouble to get gussied up for diner out we'd rather stay in;>. We have quite a collection that we occasionally use...usually for lunch when we're out doing errands.
So, with these we were able to get each something we really wanted. For Chuck it was a Blu ray Player. For me it was a Roku.
My brother actually suggested it since I'd made a comment to him after seeing one of those Google dodads commercials. I HAD planned on the midrange priced one but found it sold out so we went to Sam's Club(we have family business card acct)and I ended up getting the top of the line...as well as Chuck's Blu ray.
'Course, we only have one BR DVD, the one we got that day;>! His next payday we'll change his Netflix acct to Blu-ray, since mine already is anyway.
I've become a true addict to the Roku, mainly through my Hulu Plus acct. I do wish they had more Japanese shows other than Anime but other than that...it's GREAT! I've been "binge watching" Australian and Korean TV, my fav of the 1st is 'The Strange Calls' a paranormal comedy about a city cop who gets transferred to a small ODD Australian town to work the Night Shift. The 2nd is 'Kimchi Family' a drama about a small rural family restaurant where a fleeing gangster discovers a forgotten childhood home.
Roku also offers other channels(free and not)like Netflix and such, some good, some, no so much;>. It's a lot of fun, though I personally would rather have the Netflix interface from my Blu ray than the one for Roku;>...
Cheers,
Pat
