mdehners: (totoro)
Due to the “pinking” of the local Maples, I know danger of Hard Frost is past, so everything that can handle temps to 33F have been dragged out. With the exception of some Adeniums, NO plants that couldn’t handle lower Temps survived so…..
I think the 2 biggest emotional “hits” are the loss of most of my Dragonfruit collection(only 3 plants left) and ALL of the Tea Trees. Well, in the latter’s case I got a pretty clear message they aren’t Hardy here;>!
One of the Passionfruit hybrids survived and I’m hoping the Green form of Okinawaan Spinach as well as the Galangal. Hard to tell with the Lemongrass but they’re easy to restart with a few stalks from the local Asian grocer.
Spent yesterday clearing an Mowing the backyard so that the plants had a clear spot to park. Looks like AS USUAL the Plums which were bought TO FERTILIZE EACH OTHER are not blooming concurrently. I’d order a Metheley to get either but chances are that once the folks are gone we’ll no longer be here at Hummingbird Home. Nothing Sinister, just we’re here in FWB for the folks. When they’re gone the rest of the family is over on Bluewater Bay and my brother has dropped hints if moving nearer to them to a smaller property would be OK. YES! It WOULD!. Chuck has a “Brown Thumb” and it’s getting very hard for me to work a lot and a half of Permaculture. A spot of land big enough for a kitchen garden and space for a couple fruit trees. That’s why I containerized my Yuzu instead of planting it. I may dig up the ‘Cara Cara’ Orange and do the same so I can take it with us when we go. I noticed a bit in the core of one of the ‘Dwarf Namwa’ Banana trunks so the plant is still viable. The other 3(‘Orinoco’, FHIA24 and ornata) wouldn’t be missed it they weren’t.
Cheers,
Pat
