"Orthodoxy"......
Apr. 2nd, 2016 10:34 amBack when I "Came Home" to Heathenry in the early 90's, other than the obsession with Patronage, the other Belief pretty much all the Heathens I ran into was that you couldn't be a Heathen by yourself. Back then I'd argue the(to me) blatantly obvious thing that Nordic/Germanic folks weren't always in groups and those working jobs where they were alone were STILL Heathens. We just lost all the personal Rites that they'd done. Needless to say, my opinion wasn't well received;>.
I've been Solitary now for 15 yrs with one weekend off for a moot in 03. And yes, I consider myself Heathen;>. At 1st I'd attempt full Blots or Sumbels 4-1 but after a yr or two it just got in the way of Connecting with the Regin and other Wights. 15 yrs later and my personal Practices would make my old kindred's gydhia cringe. But I feel They don't have a problem with it. Heck, considering some of the absolutely Woeful Poetry given as a Offering at both of my previous kindreds, I think my more simplified Devotions may be a sort of "palate-cleanser";>.
I recently saw a book on Solitary Heathenry on Ebay and was tempted but while 15 yrs ago it would have been a great resource, I'm happy with my Devotional routine. I see no reason to change at this point in my life.
Whenever someone tells you you can't, remember that some where and when an Ancestor DID.
Cheers,
Pat
