Spent 1/2 hr this AM for no reason down at my aids clinic waiting for my weekly Injection...it's been closed for two weeks as a "cost cutting" measure. Considering the staff didn't Know last Thursday and the receptionist hadn't been notified...
What's so sad is that you know what happened. They decided to save money by cutting that which goes to "the Gays" so there will be more for "families". The reason I say sad is that in our county the MAJORITY of pwas are Het women with kids(and mostly WHite, different than the general population...) but being a "Good God-FEaring County", they aren't allowed to believe anything that contradicts the Fundie Credo.
Well, at least I won't have to listen to the screaming kids of the other aids patients for a couple weeks so there's always a SIlver Lining;>....

It's typical bureaucratic stupidity. It's like their earlier closing of the Psych dept and shifting the clients into the Substance Abuse dept. While the SA folk's clients oft have Mental Health issues, I'm not sure in the long run putting those without drug problems in with those that do might make a mess in the long run.
One sad thing is that the hiv prevention unit was cut and funds were transfered to the pregnancy prevention unit. Considering that what prevents transmission of hiv also prevents pregnancy....
