Yes. I thought that when I read things people were saying about America. They are similar to what they said about the UK and Brexit- 'the country is a laughing stock' etc. It got so nasty here in the UK, I'm amazed we didn't have a civil war. I wish you the best of luck and I hope somehow, something happens to bring sanity back to your country.
