mdehnersWhen you look at your stall, alter, meditation center,etc...what is the percentage there that is Required for your Practice? If it's less than 50%, you're a Magpie. Don't Feel too bad, it seems that most of us are. But does it Help our Practices?
I realized long ago that it didn't, though I "Backslide" repeatedly a couple times a yr. The nice thing about being here in the Florida Panhandle now is that there's much less chance of "Oooooo! Shiny!";>. Still,I'm wavering at the 50% point and could go over at any time:)
If you can't "beat it", then try to aim it. Aim for books instead of jewelry or weaponry(Ooooo! Sharp and Shiny;>!). Devotional Artwork or Statuary, preferably by an Artist of your Way. And do you REALLY need so many sets of_____:)? Back in my WIccan days I collected Tarot and simply fed the same addiction after "Coming Home" to Runestave sets. At least Runestaves come in 3(maybe 4 depending on if you consider Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Frisian separate...)but still;>
One thing the ANcestral Heathens and the Early WIccans had in common was that there wasn't(or no funds extra for...)all the material that can be distracting and prevent focusing and MAstering a Skill and/or Gift.
