mdehnersOne of the biggest "Piles" is that Hardship grows SPirit. It doesn't. Hardship means you have time and energy for survival and the Big Questions are superfluous. Probably why few folks on my lists and blogs are. At the end of the day you're just too tired to do the basics of your religion, let alone Deep Work. Also, those who are barely keeping their heads above water aren't that happy to hear that you have the free time and resources to do that which they may have once been able to do....
One nice thing about this Downturn is that I'm hearing less "Blame the Victim" in the Heathen Community. In parts of the Heathen Community there is a strong Calvinist streak(which I always found amusing...). At least this time the economy's Downturn has affected more than just "Lazy and Marginal People".
I guess I'm not "retro" enough to Blame the Regin for our family's experiences. 'Course, most of my Lore Reading to me showed those who did were not the sort I would consider Spiritual Rolemodels;>!
It'd be nice that the next month would be at leastr the same instead of worse but I don't think so, at least in my Lifetime. That's the problem with Living in a culture at it's end. On the positive side? It decreases the possibilities someone would make ALL Life on the Planet Extinct. HUmans? If the Gods like us so much, they can always whip up another batch from some shrubbery;>.....
