Humans in general see little beyound their own Physical and Mental POVs. While this is a good Survival trait in the short run, it's not so good in the LONG. From the interpersonal to the planetary, most folks never even accept another POV.
One that I always found amusing was that of those from the more "Enlightened" parts of the WOrld/COuntry/etc. You'd think these folks would but they don't. Mostly, they mean well but are clueless because it NEVER occurs to them that everyone's personal space isn't the same as theirs. Quite often over the yrs on lists, groups and journals I mentioned some Annoyance in my life and the well-meaning person will reply with a "Well, why don't you just contact your local dept of ____?". Well, mainly because with the exceptions of a handful of cities and a few Libertarian/Liberal states, there ARE no "Dept's of ___".
At least in the US, unless you are of a certain Income, Religion, Ethnicity and/or Orientation, you HAVE not options other than yourself. And even Superman had His bad days;>!
A friend in NY was SHOCKED at what I consider a normal experience to get my monthly Meds refilled. SHe couldn't Understand why I "Put up with it".
???????
Those of us outside civilization do a lot to get OCCASIONALLY what others in civilized zones consider their Birthright. And the, "Well, why don't you move" isn't that helpful either. Some of us have family obligations and even then, even Relocation costs. Their aren't commercials to help non-Christians, non-Hets and others to escape to "The Promised Land".
Just try to see the world as it is, not as it appears in your world of coffeeshops and historic tourist traps. Some of us don't have a REAL Choice of that Look outside our Window...
Truth,
Pat
