mdehnersI got talked into doing patient advocate work for a one-day conference on making assistance for aids patients more "assisting". I warned the folks at OASIS, if I do I'm not going to be polite....anymore.
They wonder what's the problem(s)? I'll give you a few:
Not everyone is conversant with legal/medical documents OR has a social worker. And that's just on things you find on your own.
Not everyone comes from/with a Criminal and/or Welfare background. Both have folks to help them and those of us who were part of neither can be disqualified for assistance BECAUSE we haven't.
Most Gays have had negative experiences with Christians. Having to go to a "Faith-Based" org(that our lovely Pres gave all the money to...) is bad enough. Being Prosletysed or denegrated makes it even worse.
Just a few off the top of my head...
