Well, got an eval for the garden this yr...it's too big;>! But seriously, with the Energy and Mobility problems, I'm going to have to do some major restructuring. Also, as this Drought is showing, too much requires too much Irrigation.
ALso, Standard Tomatoes started after Yule are simply a waste of Resources and Time. June(or this yr late May...) Heat stops production and those on the vines get damaged unless floating covers are used. Too much work. This Fall we're going to try those for Northern Climates as so to get them in the ground earlier and to Bear faster.
Melons have been a total loss due to the Drought.
Learned that Korean Perilla isn't an acceptable sub for Japanese this yr. Inferior flavor, very "grassy".
Sweet Bell and the Ornimental(but quite tasty!)Variegated Purple Hot Peppers are going great. The Italian Sweets and the Ajis...zip. Eggplants are producing but stressed. Other than the Figs, The Kumquat and the Orangequat all the Fruit trees and 1/2 of the Blackberries aborted. The Pomegranite doesn't look "happy" and the Sour Kumquat I'd grown from seed 15 yrs ago is mostly Dead.
Frith,
Pat
