Housecleaning...
Jan. 6th, 2007 07:22 amContinuing with the theme this yr, I'm "cleaning out" that which gets in the way of the Regin. I'm actually taking the advice that I've been giving Heathens for over 16 yrs(which was the same I made as a Wiccan, really before....). "It's the Regin, Stupid!". Everything else is really decoration. I discommed from 3 lists today that got in the way of this concept and cleared a fair chunk of diskspace by deleting files, journals, etc. Clean slate...
It's Sad how many if not most Heathens,Wiccans and Pagans can't stand Simplicity. None of the other religions I've Known in my Life do the members Obsessively redo their Rites. Bigger! Shinier! Longer! Not for Accuracy or Efficiency but simply because they Crave Novelty. My CHristian, Jewish and Buddhist friends go to basically the same Rites every service and are Uplifted Spiritually each time. That can't be said of most of my Heathen, Wiccan and Pagan friends. I've Sadly come to the conclusion that many(if not most) of my "alt-religion" compatriots are more Interested in the "Decorations" than that which those "Decorations" represent. 90% of ANY discussion on ANY list I'm on is about the differences in group organization, not Theological differences. Arguing basically about the colour of the gowns that the Angels dancing on the head of a pin are wearing.....
I've also Realized that I shouldn't Care of the Opinions of groups/trads/branches/etc's whose members world-wide number less than the Senior Garden club in my small town that I volunteer with. Maybe when they number as much as the members of the fundie church in the stripmall a block away;>?
