GLOBAL WARMING!
Jan. 7th, 2007 03:53 pmIt’s like April, or September outside. All the windows have been open for the last couple of weeks and the last three days I’ve had the big vent fan on. My folk’s Apple tree is Blooming and all the early Spring flowers are coming up EVERYWHERE. I’ve been able to sit out on the screen porch and read(needful for we have MOSQUITOES!?! In JANUARY!?!) for more than a week now…in T-shirt and shorts! I’m really Worrying about the Citrus because they are Marginal here in the Panhandle but can handle Freezes IF FULLY DORMANT. I haven’t seen any new Growth but another couple of weeks of this and we may have damage(or loss) if we get a heavy Freeze later in the Spring. A number of the Sub-Tropicals are already coming up as are the Wildflowers along the Driveway and road margins(we don’t have Sidewalks…). The Alyssum are really only a couple weeks tops ahead as are the Primroses so they aren’t so out of place but COSMOS?!? I’ve got Bloody Pink and Rose Cosmos Blooming along the driveway?!?!
The Snow Peas are done as are most of the early Spring Greens. The Garlics are up more than a month ahead of time and the Hardnecks are really Marginal in our climate, so that’s definitely not good.. I’m trying a Creole type as well so at least I’ll have something if we get “Nailed”…
Troth,
Pat
