Tomorrow Chuck has an appt with a social worker at the local county Mental Health clinic. No help for someone with a Head Injury but if he’s “Mental”? “Luckly”, he has a phobia about storms so he has an “In”. The guy refused to be Institutionalized/considered being Handicapped and has Worked since his skull got “Blessed “ by a “Good Christian”….so he’s now being Punished. Hopefully, this “backdoor” method will at least get him hooked up with some Health services. Honestly, I think him going on Disability would be the best thing….NOW. He’s had decreases in Reading, Memory and Speech that I’ve noticed in the last couple of yrs. There’s also all the “fun” that comes with being in your late 50’s…
If they can’t, we really need him to find a job. This month I had to Humiliate myself to get ½ help on the Rent. Down ‘hyar, social service contracts are given to “faith-based” orgs. The religious questions are annoying, but having the counselor constantly repeating that if I “was with a woman”, I’d be Eligible for 100% Assistance. After the 4th or 5th time I got “pissy” and told him that” if we couldn’t afford the Rent this month, we certainly couldn’t Afford a Sex-change for Chuck”. Shocked the shit out of the bastard. The only thing more unhelpful for a Gay person than a Male Christian is a Black Male Christian. “Blacks can’t be Bigots”…….BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!
The guy also couldn’t figure(he kept writing $250 as ½ of $450) and couldn’t spell aids(I guess he thought that aids was for more than one person with…)! He’s pulling $30,000 with bennies and my “handicapped” husband who can spell and figure better is lucky to find a minimum wage job….
