Outsourcing Gone Wild!

Huuuhhhh?!?! Was my reaction when I heard that a number of depts at one of our local bases were being closed here and shipped to a base in Mexico. Appearantly, the Air Force can save money hiring local Mexican contractors to Work instead of local American ones.
In a time when Terrorism is a big worry, the idea that moving the ops for repair and upgrade of your military aircraft to a country rife with Poverty,Corruption and Lawlessness just to save a few dollars seems a bit dumb. But what do I Know.....

Genre....

I was reading a graphic novel while waiting to get my hair wacked off, and something the Writer said in his forward really "clicked" in me head. Paraphrased, it was, "Ordinary People Triumphing in Extra-Ordinary Circumstances". This, in Truth is the Core in the genres I enjoy; Horror, Action, Adventure, Combat, Sci-Fi,etc. Regular folks not only havingto "deal" with something that is generally overwhelming but if not to "win the War" than at least the "battle". It's also the reason some books and films IN those genres really "piss" me off.....esp the "and then they DIED!!!!!" crap that's become more popular in the last decade or so.
It certainly can explain the WTF Attitude of some folks. If your "Entertainment" Ideal is that the Bad Guys always Win or Everone always Dies, what does it say about the person that finds this Satisfying?
