While it's nice that I'm basicially a zone higher than I was a decade ago, the occassional drops back into what WAS normal can fuck things up. For instance. Until today, you knew when it was safe to but out Hardy plants(those that could handle a Frost but not a Freeze) because the American Redbud doesn't Bloom until it is safe. Well, at least I won't be weeding their Seedlings out of the Veggie and flower beds this yr. Looks like a convention of Muslim CLerics in the yard with the Orange and Bananas all wrapped up. Got a couple pups off the SH3640, which is the best so far of the Ag station Dessert Bananas I'm evaluating for my zone. It's twice the size of the other two, as well as producing more plants. I removed them so the parent will focus on Fruit instead of Vegitative production. If the Freeze doesn't do too much damage I'll have Bananas by Thanksgiving!
The Lotus Seeds I got have not only sprouted(Yay Dremel!)but the Red Russians are already in their juvenile home, an old kitty litter container. 3 in each this yr, One in each the next and then each goes in it's own 20gal bucket until blooming. substandards will be eaten!
Cheers,
Pat
