Better Late than Never...
Aug. 7th, 2009 01:46 pmThe Gulf Fitillaries(a local Butterfly that looks like a Dollar-store version of a Monarch;>) arrived this week, two months late and in few numbers but better that then none. Which is good because the Passionflower vines are taking over everything, like a prettier Kudzu. Their larvae will graze the vines down to their stems, allowing light to reach the ground to allow Fall plants to get going. The only downside is that they also have a taste for Orchid Cactus so they and the Dragonfruits as well as the Holiday Cacti get dragged onto the screened porch for the next two months....
