Review, 'SGU'
Dec. 5th, 2009 03:27 pmWhen I 1st heard of it I was'nt Interested. The 1st couple I enjoyed but I'm no longer watching it. The 1st couple of shows dealt with one of my major pet peeves of Sci-Fi. Earth Humans discover an Alien technology and within a minimum figure it out. Also, stuff laying about at the bottom of a gravity well exposed to a reactive atmosphere works perfectly, as if new. 'SGU' at least didn't(though I have a feeling the ship in the most recent episode will follow the "traditional" pattern.
The main reason is I'm really over this anti-scientist thread in modern Sci-Fi, esp the Pop stuff. If someone went to school, obviously they're Evil AND Elitist. The guy living off his dying mother playing vidio games is obviously the Good person. Now, I'm not one of those eejits that thinks folks without college are stupid. I do, however believe that even with today's Internet you're not going to develope the skills for high science without it. It's sad. The role model for success for Black kids is the jock. Today for the White kid it's the Gamer. I used to be one and have friends GLOBALLY who are and NONE of them could either explain or fix much except of the most simple to grasp science, electronics.
I'm TIRED of Scientists always being, at best anti-human. I'm also TIRED of the Celebration of those who've found "Bread & Circuses" more Interesting than Education....

Pat
