Book Recommendation...

For thosee that haven't read any of LE Modessit Jr's Sci Fi, I suggest one of his new "stand alones", 'Haze'. For fans, this book will remind them of a number of books, 'Adiamante', 'The Ecolitan Enimgma' and a couple of others...so it's a good intro to his work.
It's the story of Roget, an Anglo agent of the Federation, Earth's star-faring civilization founded by the Chinese after the West collapsed about 30 yrs from now.He and 5 agents are sent to Haze, a planet that doesn't make sense, too close to it's sun, yet surface is habitable. Beyond atmosphere, the surface is unscanable.
Roget discovers the planet was terraformed by the Thomists, a politacl movement that began in our time that taught that the Intelligent mind accepted NOTHING on face value. "Doubting Thomases" a Media wag called them in our time....
What's history, what's real and what really matters in the long run. Usual questions that Modessit's books bring up. An easy read...
