WHY am I doing this;>?

Last week the MH tech convinced me to be part of her Chronic Pain group because I'd had so much experience in the last 30 yrs with CP(before Neuropathy I'd Chronic back problems due to a birth defect and Arthritis, which runs in the family).
Well, last week it was canceled(the day after she told me about it). Today, same thing. She just called, very apologetic and I tentatively said I'd try next week. Public Health. Sigh.....
And these folks wonder why I don't Volunteer much anymore. If you're going to the trouble of asking for folks to do free work, you should at least have the civility to contact them if you've decided to or had to cancel.
Part that I'm afraid of is that once again I'll be more Knowlegable than the group leader. That NEVER goes well;>!
I did get a smile from the aids supprt org councelor though. He's been cig-free for 6 weeks and has entered the stage where he now not only can smell stale smoke, he finds it repugnant...esp. when it's coming from a Smoker with mod to low hygene and laudering skills. I didn't answer the "Did I used to smell like THAT!?!!" question, though from the look I gave him he figured the answer was "Yes". He's put on a little weight but since he was a skinny, weaselly-looking guy before, it's moved him up at least 2 on the Looks Scale...
