Battle of the Network Foodstars...
Aug. 20th, 2011 06:55 amI'm getting a "kick" out of the battle between Paula Deen and Antony Bourdian. Bourdain had made a comment about foodnetwork Chefs in general and a few in particular(which Deen was one of...)that I thought was spot on, that they basically are their to cater to those who can barely boil an egg and make them feel good about it. She made the usual comment toward anyone from the New York area...Elitism. 'Course, the fact that Bourdain is from a Working class background and worked his way up from dishwasher is "irrelivant" to these folks. Also, 90% of the food on Bourdain's show is food of the Working classes around the world shows that the "Dairy Queen"(known for her obsession beyond even Julia Childe's for adding butter to EVERYTHING and in large amts...) has never even read a Google on it.
Personally, I'm not a "fan" of Foodnetwork for pretty much the same reasons as Bourdain. My last time watching was an episode of a show where the top chefs of other countries were criticised for them cooking their culture's food the way their culture liked it, instead of for the American "palate".
Can you say Ugly Americans?
Knew you could;>.....
Cheers,
