One of the "Good Things" about not being in a kindred or Teaching is that I can allow my UPG's(Unsubstanciated Personal Gnosis)into my personal life...after all, they're not confusing anyone but me;>.
For most of my Spiritual Life, I'd not been a big "fan" of them, even as personally Useful as they can be. This is mainly my dislike of Lying, esp. Spiritually. I saw enough of this as a kid with the various Christian and Muslim aquaintances of my parents. They'd say they were a "____" but did things and/or Beleived things that weren't or were contradicted by their various Faiths. In college I found my 1st Coven, which while 'Traditional', kept on Beleiving and stating things that even someone educated at a 60's public school level knew wasn't true about European history and Mythology. In CR and later Heathenry I found religions that didn't find actual historical materials too "boring", "mundane" "Common",etc. Well, in general;>
But since I no longer have to worry about misleading someone that my personal stuff is always what folks did a millenia and a half ago, I can relax. I no longer have to feel awkward when my personal experiences and feelings don't line up with the Lore(like to me Hella Feels" much older than what the Lore says...older than many of the Aesir and Vanir.). In some ways not worrying that I'm going to fuk up someone's Spriritual Worldview like some Pagans do(not just "mixmastering" whole Pantheons but stating that their "puree" was what "really" WAS)has allowed me to actully do more Living my Faith.
