DVD Recommendation: 'Going Postal'.....
Oct. 16th, 2011 09:57 amAs I've mentioned before, I'm a BIG FAN of Terry Pratchett, so every time they make a flick of one of his books, I have to see it. The newest, 'Going Postal' is alsmost as good as 'The Hogfather' but lightyears better than 'Practical Magic'.
Set on Diskworld, 'GP' is the story of a conman who is "hung an inch of his life" and given a choice....death or becoming Postmaster. The Post Office went bankrupt yrs ago, replaced by the "hi-tech" Clacks; a semophore system(basically a light telegraph). However, the new CO has been raising prices and dropping service so the Ruler of the City wants an option for his citizens and our poor conman's stuck trying to make it work....
Funny, socially relevant and worth looking for...
Cheers,
Pat
