Clear Labelling.....
Apr. 8th, 2013 12:37 pmOn one of the journals I follow an article was made about "Mummy Blogs" and the stigma attached. Personally, I don't have a problem with a family-oriented blog/journal....as long as it's labelled as such. Don't label or list your journal under/about subject(s) that you seldom post on. It's just mannerly. I've friends that theirs ARE just about the kids, pets, spouse, etc and I love reading them. However, they aren't listed/implied as anything BUT family.
I DO find it irritating when I'm looking for a journal of a particular subject NOT about ______ and all posted IS. Now, if this is a during a search, you just go on. However, all of us have changes in our lives and our priorities change. When they do, it'd be nice if folks would change the title of their journal and listing to be in line with the new world view. I used to just keep subscribing to journals of folks who once I had Interests in common even though we no longer did but I've finally got over it. Probably what helped was having someone unsub from my journal because they now had a family and didn't want "them" exposed to Homosexuality. Like her kids would be reading my journal any time soon;>! Said LOADS about their Spirituality though....
Cheers,
Pat
