Devotion vs. Power.......
Jul. 6th, 2013 10:23 amAre Pat-Speak shorthand for the two major Paths those in Metaphysics(this includes religion) follow. Now, few are EXCLUSIVELY one or the other...but they exist and you've probably run into or at least read about them. Most folks are a mix, though one or the other is Dominant.
As I've mentioned a few times, I'm Devotionally Inclined. That is, my metaphysical activities are centered around Divinities and our Interactions. That's not to say I'm totally Devotional. I'm quite willing to use my Skills and Gifts to "tilt" things in our household's Favor;>. I just make sure there's a "rider" to make sure my Actions don't cause Interference in the Plans of the Ones I Follow. Not that I could "derail" anything of there's, I just don't want to Irritate Them;>......
Now, I've known a few Power-Dominants. I think the strongest was a Ceremonial that simply considered ALL Beings, Physical and Non as "props" to get their Desired result(s).Ego? NAAAAUUUUGHHHHHH;>. 30 yrs ago he was big in Salt lake City's Republican Party. Since I haven't heard of him since I moved, I guess he wasn't as Powerful as he thought...
I think you do migrate a bit back and forth from these "poles" over the yrs. I know when I was young, there was seldom a day in which I wasn't doing something to "fix" things in my favor Magically. Today? I'm more likely to simply hand extra Energy off to Those I Follow and let them do what They Wish with it. I Trust Them and Honestly, with the exception of occasional Works for family Health Issues don't "do" anything Magically anymore.
Some think you become more Devotional as you get older and many DO, esp those that were truly on a Power-Trip. Even the most "fluffy" of belief-systems tell you that Actions have Consequences, and those more likely to treat non-physical and physical beings as "props" tend to not think about the Consequences of their Actions...only the Results that happen in their favor.
There are those that do just the opposite. They're usually, IME those that WERE Deeply Devotional and felt "screwed". Interestingly, every one of these I've ever known or heard of were Fundamentalist Christians. Not that other Deities of other Pantheons can't leave a Devotee feeling hurt, used and abandoned..
