So, I'm waiting for Chuck to get done "primping" to leave for his md apt and my brother calls to tell me Dad died. If we'd been n time I'd have got the call in the middle of rush hr traffic. I won't complain about the amt of time it takes him to get ready ever again.....
It's not like it's a surprise. He's in his late 80's with massive cardiac and CNS problems. Lately, I'd had the odd combo of Knowing his body was good for only a few more months but the Feeling he wasn't going to last that long. Since he fell last night, that explains it.
He had a better life than most; travelling the world, surviving both Korea and 'Nam(and a heli crash in the latter)and having more than half a century with Mom. He passed in his own home still taking care of himself; no nursing needed.
I'm sad but also glad he isn't in pain anymore....both physical and mental.
And I'm sure Mom gave him an "earful" about his stubbornness not using her "handicapable" bathroom for his regular tub/shower one;>
Cheers,
Pat
