mdehners: (poop)
Chuck collapsed Monday and had to be hospitalized overnight for dehydration making his poor kidneys unable to cleanse his blood well. Unfortunately, do to COVID precautions, not only could I not visit him, all the info the MD's had was what he said(and him being Confused) and what was on the intake form. They sent him home the next day telling me what we already knew. He was Confused but doing OK until about an hr after bedtime when he decided to get up and watch tv...falling. He was too confused to help me get him up so 911 had to be called to get him back in bed. 2 hrs later, he fell again in the kitchen but this tim I was able to get him up.
He seemed better this morning and we started to take him back for labs when he fell in the doorway. Again, I was lucky and was able to get him up and back to his chair.
I called the lady that helped us in January to keep him home(my brother and his wife wanted him commited and called Adult Protective Services) and unfortunately her supervisor isn't in today but will get back to us asap. I also called Chuck'e MD's office.
As a neighbor who also is a retired nurse, she told me that I've basically provided Assisted Living for him for the last couple of yrs so it's not surprising the next step is a nursing home.
Adding to THAT stress is that we will be moving before the 1st of the yr to Knoxville(my brother bought a house). Sadly, Chuck was really enthused about it, esp since the "Mother-in-Law's Unit opens onto a porch overlooking an inlet of one of the TVA's lakes.....
Cheers,
Pat
