mdehnersI had to laugh at the reactions of some of my friends and some TV-weenies about their reactions around Obama's pastor. Needless to say, none of them had ever been to a Black Church before. Funny. lil old "nazitru" me has been to more Black churches than his Progressive friends. 'Course, I was a nurse working with disabled infants and young children and where my client's parent(s) went, I went. It was SOP for me to be the only WHite at a service. It never bothered me. I was there to do a job and the VAST majority treated me very well. After all, here was a "White Devil" who was willing to come into their neighborhoods and homes to help, usually neighborhoods that the Black nurses wouldn't.
I'm a Heathen. I'm also Gay. Needless to say, I heard nothing that didn't reinforce my Beleifs about CHristianity, except Black Christians are more Honest about their Hatred. And that's the "thing". Most of my Progressive friends have an almost 19th Century "Noble Savage" view of non-WHites. The idea that they may be as or even more racist and bigoted than Europeans is Alien to their rosey world-view. It's been fun watching some of the talking heads explain away Hate Speech as soemthing else....
Dislike Obama for Obama, not because of his pastor because the vast majority of sermons in Black churches are much worse than his. Heck, get to know the folk you worship instead of starting with what you wish they were and act accordingly. An "Honest" conman is always better than a false "god"....
