mdehnersRecently, on OM there was a bit of a stink raised because only 5 out of the 300 subscribers said that they'd go to the list moot. Now, I've never gone. I just have never been able to afford it: financially, physcially and transporationally(I have use of a car that is unhappy driving more than an hr continuously;>). But the Truth is, if that gov't bailout money had already come, I wouldn't go. Sure, moots 1-6 in a new york minute. The last couple of yrs....no.
The truth is, OM isn't what it used to be. Much of that can me placed on one moderator whose enjoyment of stirring shit up lead to the discomming of most of the original members, incuding some who had been founding members of both the original AFA, but the 1st Heathen groups in the USA. Since then, OM's Recon and/or Folkish population has done what it has on all other mixed lists, just not as fast since Himself's actions got his mod badge returned. I admit that a lot of my Feelings about Universalists not really being Heathen stem from his and his behavior and those of his followers.
As some of you know, the greatest and most unforgivable "sin" to me is Betrayal and when you betray the Trust folk put in you simply to feed a need for excitement and/or drama, you're less than a smear of shit from a sick seal.
SInce then, OM's followed the trend of mixed groups. Universalists get positions of power, push the Unie agenda, REcons leave, Unies feel more comfortable and invite friends that'd never have been allowed in pre-blowup yrs and then more Recons leave....till you have now.
There is one slight glimmer of hope for OM though. The Unies went too far, pushing acceptance of Thurs worship as a normal Heathen way and attacking anyone who disagreed as "unfrithfull" or "against list rules". And yes, moi-self was the 1st curmudgeon to "Just Say No". Amazingly, even some of the Unies are siding with the REcons. It seems that even the most "Progressive" Universalist finds considering equal in worthiness of worahip the crew of the Ship of Nails and the Regin a bit much to swallow....
