mdehnersThe longer I'm "Home" the more I realise how Wise the Ancestors were(well, except for that becoming Christian "thang";>). Take the concept of Innangarðr/Utangearðr. It's so common sense that folks plainly ignor it. It's NOT Xenophobia, no matter what fluffheads say. Of course Your Own will Understand and be more SUpportive than Outsiders will/would be. Yet in modern Western cultures, esp counter-culture and other alternate communitie we are taught that "The Other" is somehow "more" than ourselves. More Spiritual, More WIse, More Honest, More etc. The Truth is...they're simply OTHER. Nothing more and nothing LESS. They have their own Journey and while it's OK to share the ROad, never FOrget that you are NOT going the same WAY and you are NOT THEM. They know this and will always side with their own....as you should...as long as Honor is Upheld.
It's been a good yr for lessons. Esp this one. What's Interesting is that while I can keep Objective associating with Christians, Jews or Mormons, I tend to forget that other Others are just that, and get jolted when I'm made Aware of what I've "tuned out". So, from now on Recons, Christians, Jews and Mormons are OK to Associate with. Pagans and Nordic Neopagans....no.
Even when it's discussing crops, it's not worth it in the long run....
