mdehnersI kept busy yesterday doing yardwork. Got a lot done. Basically, with the exception of the Cuban Hot Peppers and the Malanga everything actually here is planted. Melons, squashes, Sweet Potatoes, Eggplants. I still have an order of Heirloom Sweet Potaotes and a Yacon start from one of my Permaculture listmates pending. I will have to admit being a bit shocked at the prices for grain products lately. Locally Pasta has pert near doubled.
This is weird for me. Of all the folks I know I'm probably one of the most well-suited to survive a Great Depression or even an EOTWAWKI knowlege-wise but for the aids. 'Course, in an EOTWAWKI those are the meds looters wouldn't be interested in. They don't get you high and the side effects even for those it's meant to are pretty uncomfortable, so I'm fairly safe. A Great Depression, however,d be problematic;>
Gary and TErry were Survivalists in the 70's and 80's. They'd amuse me because they'd forget that the manufacture weapons and foodstuffs they were depending on were finite resources if these events they and their buds were almost salivating over came to pass. Sometimes I'd teach their "company" wildcraft. It was always weird having a bunch of folks that have no problem blowing up Gays and such liking you....as long as they didn't KNOW.
