mdehnersIt's funny. Not too long ago a bunch of folks said,(and were shouted down as silly) that splicing Human Genes into non-Human organisms would lead to further Transgenic practices. Well, it happened. 'Course, we're being told that these cells and possible embryos will only be used as stemcells but as with their earlier statements being Lies I'm not that Optomistic. Here we are in a time when trans-species Diseases are crossing over (AIDS, Bird Flu, etc) and labs wish to make such things easier.
Separate from this issue is that of CIvil Rights. Humans are still not very good at treating other fully Human folks equally and we wish to create someone that ISN'T!?!. I'm not worried about some "Planet of the Apes" senario. As far as I'm concerned, a world that goes down that path deserves what it gets. You think "Separate But Equal" is even going to be applied to these folks? Don't Think so. The Petaphiles won't even support them. Their actions toward animals with small amts of Human DNA has made it clear that if they consider them "Abominations", one that is Sentient will be more so. Then there arethe "God's Image" Folks. Don't think that'll be only Christians there. Many Ways, including Heathenry have traditions of Godly DNA in their Folk.
