Strange Days....
Nov. 21st, 2008 07:35 amThey certainly are when Gays aren't welcome on a hiv/aids site. I guess I shuld look at the Positive side; that we're NOT the center of the epidemic anymore in the West so we shouldn't be in the industries around it....
At 1st I thought I was misunderstanding. Very few Gays and polls that would say silly things like "Most Handsome Soap Star, Women only Poll". A big area on any Gay site is the Spirituality Forums. Paganism, Heathenry, Wicca, UU and others. Here there was a single one and it was Fundy. Then came the Trolling. It reminded me of during the early epidemic where usually women would "volunteer" to help, build a relationship with the pwa then try to get them to Repent and get Born Again.
I've had a number of the few Gays on the site contact me about their feelings, trying to, in typical Gay to pretend the Positive, ignore the Negative. Well, I'm not a typical Gay. I KNow from experience that, as the 'Kinsey Sicks' say so well in one of their songs, "Every Silver Lining has a Cloud...". As I told them, I'm not ready to write it off, mainly because it doesn't take any time for me so it's hardly a waste. I may, however decrease the Universality of my Spirituality Forum and make it as Strong in my Faith as the Fundy one is in hers....
Cheers,
Pat
