Tropical Fruit Time!
May. 29th, 2009 07:41 amWell, not for a couple yrs. My 'Gefner' Atemoya came last night. The Florida Panhandle's climate is odd, not TEmperate, not SUbtropical yet both and neither...depending on yr and time of yr. We're too warm in WInter for most PawPaws with the exception of a local population which has a nasty aftertaste. Atemoyas are similar but require Protection during Hard Freezes like Navel Oranges and Lemons.
My brother doesn't "Get" my desire to fill my property with Productive Plants. To him, anything "messy" doesn't get planted. To me it's amusing, the Gay Brother's almost always Outdoors digging in the dirt or vacationing in the Woods. The Het one....is Niles Crane. He'll use a driving Mower but his wife plants the neat rows of Home Depot Boredom....
Cheers,
Pat(who just Potted up some Jamaican Roselles)
