and checking at least twice;>. I'm going through planning next yr's crops. As with the Fall and WInter plantings, the focus is using what already is in my seedbank. Unfortunately, one of my "Musts" will have to be ordered since SOMEONE while decorating threw out the drying pods of my fav Hot Pepper, the Peruvian 'Limon'. The high Humidity while drying my fav Eggplant, the Cambodian 'Giant Green' had half mold, so the rest may be "iffy".
I am adding more Ritual/Symbolic plots of cereal grains. An Oat, a Brley and a Wheat to go with the Rice, though come an EOTWAWKI I'd leach Acorns for flour;>! I did find leftover Papaya seeds so I started some Indoors. Since with 'Solo' they start bearing 9 months after Germination, I should get a single Harvest next Fall.
On a "sour" note, I've been hearing bad things about the FHIA 23 Banana I got from Growers down in Neuva Cuba. While resistant to most diseases, it's a magnet for an insect larvae. OTOH, that critter doesn't Live in areas where it gets colder than 40F so we may be the only folks in Florida to grow this new Banana. By this time next yr we'll either be eating it's fruits or it'll be Composting;>.....
It was sad to hear of yet another bit of BS family farms here in FLorida have to put up with. A law to protect the big Ag companies in the SOuthlands have made folks like my fav Nursery replace all their Grafting Stock, even though the diseases this is supposed to "prevent" don't grow in Temps lower than 50F and they live here in the Panahndle. This means that it'll be at least two yrs before they'll be able to sell any fruit trees. Expect more farms folding....

Pat
