Replacing an old friend.....
May. 10th, 2009 12:34 pmThere'd been an Apricot Tree on the property when we moved in. At the far South of it's zone, the Changes slowly killed it. Basically, it died from lack of Sleep. When it died(or was mostly dead...)I planted an old Heirloom CLimbing Rose at it's base and used it as a trellis, creating a nice display...
Well, it rotted pretty much completely away and the Rose fell, sprawling over the Native Azaleas and other flowers so today I tore out what was left and replaced it with a trellis my Dad had made a number of yrs ago which had never been used(the Chilean Jasmine at it's base died the 1st yr...).
The Apricot never fruited for us, already suffering the shorter, warmer Winters but it's Blossoms came in February, at a time when such things were really appreciated. We only had a couple yrs of that before even that was too much for the stressed tree. It irritates me that I never took a picture of it back then....
Truth,
Pat
