Dread Work.....
May. 15th, 2009 07:52 amI keep putting it off but not for very much longer....prepwork for this season's storms. While my 'Caine Senses haven't been "tingling", the usual prepwork of making sure the generator works, that there's plenty of gas for it, that the pantry's stocked, that all vegitation that could be problematic be removed...etc. A big reason I put it off is my 2nd hand generator which at the best of times takes a shitload of effort to turn over and after a "No-'Caine" Summer and Winter storage? Blaugh! It's not as bad as my previous one which was missing the bonnet which meant the wrong angle tug on the starter rope and you slashed your arm. I've been using last yr's gas for the mower but it's soooo old the RPM's are at least 50% decrease. Water gets in easily here in Florida, even discounting petrol's normal behavior in warm climates....
On the more Positive side, I Harvested the 1st of my Feral Greenhouse tomatoes. A couple yrs ago a Thai variety went to Seed in there and every Winter a couple plants sprout. Nice large Cherry types. The others are starting to change from green to their ripening colours. The Blueberries are going to be bumper this yr, depending on the birds. Luckly for me, I encourage Insectivors and Nectar eaters. Less resident eaters;>. Lots of fruits on the Kaffir Lime, which smell exactly like Earl Grey TEa. Everyone else? Too early to tell...
Cheers,
Pat
