Potted up all the peppers. The Red Bell Peppers are up to their last pots before being planted out next month. HPs might be in their last pots, maybe not;>. No sign of sprouting in the eggplants...much to my annoyance.
Thanks to the irratic Temps this late Winter/early Spring has caused the Turnips and Daikon to bolt. At least the Japanese Green Onions are doing well. The Lettuces are growing like gangbusters, if I can keep the weeds from taking over! I'll finish Harvesting the European Spinach next week or so. I've got a couple of weeks left of Swiss Chard though.
Trying to decide whether to plant the Soybeans and 'Crapaudine' Beets(the oldest cultivar in existance!)next Sunday or the week after. Living at the edge of Temperate and Subtropical Biomes can be a bit tricky around planting time.
There was some Chewing Sugarcane two months ago at our local farmer's market so I bought some and made Cuttings....two of which have sprouted! The 'Pele's Smoke' Sugarcane didn't survive my Dad's greenhous but a stump of it did in mine(backup;>). Unfortunately, while prettier than commercial Cane it has a nasty grassy taste...like slightly sweetened lawn-clippings. And compared to other Ornamental Grasses it's pretty sad so I think I'll try keeping the Chewing Cane going and let the other be replaced by one of the nice Switchgrasses.
Cheers,
Pat

I think I may start planting soon. Maybe not. Still have almost 2 months to go before I can set outside and may need to see about putting things in another place. My herb garden is trashed. Someone knocked down the fence I had around it so I'm putting up an ugly fence, the iron poles with chicken wire, to protect it. My landlord says "no" but the park owner said to do what I had to to keep it safe. Just hoping that it's not a total loss. Still too early to tell if anything survived the winter. I should go out and start watering though, and planting some new grass. thinking of letting the yard go this year though, since I can't keep kids and cats out of it.
