Hoarding shows...

Ever so often I'll watch one of these shows, though they make me ANGRY. As I've pointed out before, I grew up with two. I've also had a friend(well, his whole family actually) and 2 kindred members. Even as a kid I HATED to go over to my older brothers' house(Identical twins as well as Hoarders). The crap was annoying(esp since they lived in the sub-urbs and much of the stuff they Hoarded was Ammo, Gunpowder and until my Mom convinced them in the late 70's NAPALM) but my parents were what Pissed me off. Every yr they'd take time off to go and make "the boys" home useable, though this simply meant clearing enough to use the bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms. EVERY YR. They finally stopped last yr when Terry Passed...even though Gary 's the Disabled one(he had Polio as a kid). Even in their 80's and both with mult bypasses EACH they'd fly out to the other side of the continent and clean as well as fix whatever broke. I admit, when we moved out to take care of the folks we didn't expect any payback but when you're on SSDI and your Partner works Minimum wage, having the folks spend all their extra income taking care of two guys with a combined income of $70,000 a yr did get OLD.
I know it's a mental illness. I also never liked the "Prodigal Son' Parable either. Punishing the "Good" son was one of the 1st things I learned to Dislike the Middleeastern Laufey's Son....
