Thank TIVO and Netflix(streaming)!
Jul. 25th, 2012 06:25 amI have to admit, I wasn't a "fan" of either concept before getting them(TIVO from my brother, Netflix for Chuck post Work)but today I consider both deity-sends....otherwise, I'd have to "deal" with the crap modern programming produces.
This way, I can record shows that come on after we go to bed and watch classic flicks and series(as well as British, Japanese and Korean ones)instead of the shallow, bitchy, snarky, insulting fare that's generally on.
Sure, there's a few things on that are good;I lke 'Falling Skies','The Dead Files', 'The Walking Dead', 'The Big Bang Theory', 'Bones'(not as much as I used to), 'Finder', 'Longmire'and a couple of others I can't think of off the top of my head.
Personally, I think Reality TV's the worst thing to come on for Women and Minorities because they present them as Shallow, Nasty creatures that any decent person would have nothing to do with. 'Course, their treatment of Het males, esp fathers isn't any better. Father doesn't Know Best, today he can barely put on his underwear on by himself(we KNOW he can't dress himself...EVERY show teaches us).
Yes, "The Golden Age of Television" was Bigoted and Misogynistic but today ain't much better....
Cheers,
Pat
