mdehnersAfter recent events I'm glad I didn't erase the recordings of the 1st 2 episodes....
When I heard about this series, I was trepidatious. After all, in the 4+decades of conscious TV watching "Gay show" usually means cringeworthy material...the Gay equivalent of "Minstrel Shows". After the 1st episode, I'm less worried, even though one of the main characters "trails 25 yrds of Pink Chiffon";>
Goldie is the sole breadwinner mother in a loveless marriage in the Midwest,"helped" by her Bigoted grandmother...who considers herself too young to be one. After returning to her house after 6 minutes to find her husband fucking, she asks her daughter her wish, which was to "drive to Hawaii". Of course,the Pacific got in the way;>. Once there, her daughter asks her her wish. It is to go back to school and become a lawyer. She finds out that the "easiest" way to pay for this is to become a surrogate mother for an upscale clinic with an affuent Gay clientele. Since just before she had to return to her house for her work nametag(and find her husband and his girlfriend)she saw a Lesbian couple with their kid and after hearing the usual comment form her grandmother, she actually requests a Gay couple.....
Well written, fun and with great lines, usually tossed about by the "fabulous" husband,his secretary(NeeNee from 'Real Housefraus of Atlanta')and the daughter. "Don't Call Me Nanna" has good ones as well. Nasty, Racist and Extremely Bigoted but funny as well...
Worth watching and I'm seldom Interested in "regular" TV!
