So, I'm off on my usual AM walk and I'm hit as I step out on the porch with a STENCH! Something large has been dead for a while, or at least smells like it. I go "hunting" for the source and find it. It's a rather pretty Cally Lily-like blossom!
It's one of my Amorophallus species, albus(which explains the WHite blossom;>). You've seen it's "Big Sister" every time one of them blooms...the giant Pink Calla. It's the 1st of my collection to reach blooming size. The Japanese use riverii and bulbiferii to make Konnjacku cakes and Shirataki Noodles(my personal fav). One of many weird plants in my yard(or house. No Amorphallus beyond seedlings allowed inside, for OBVIOUS reasons;>!).
Cheers,
Pat
