Busy couple of days. Dad decided to do a live reenactment of that old Medic Alert commercial and fell Sunday. He's been given the OK for release a half hr ago. All the expensive toys and they have no idea why. Only oddity was a low Magnesium. Sunday wasn't bad until the last half hr I was there when "Nasty Joe" manifested(Dad's Alzheimer's also causes Personality changes. "Nice Joe" is your lovable Ditzy Grandpa type. "Nasty" is basically the guy that scared the crap out of Green Beret's in 'Nam)and spent it bellowing and trying to rip out his IV and climb out of bed.
The good part was that me and my brother Chris could talk about the situation without family around. He both thought the same; either of us could take Mom if Dad died 1st but neither could Dad if she DID. Our Health couldn't handle the Stress and Chris' as well(he had major back surgery a couple weeks ago. If he's not to even do a situp, he's not going to be able to physically Restrain a Retired Special Ops Man who did 3 tours in 'Nam because he ENJOYED IT.
Ah, the "Joys" of getting Older AND remaining connected to Family. Sometimes I Envy my Brothers and Sisters whose families disposed of them when they found out they weren't "Real People"....SOMETIMES.
Cheers,
Pat
