Early Spring Garden....
Feb. 17th, 2014 05:43 amAt least the weather and my back have been cooperating the last couple of days;>.Been clearing winterkill, weedtrees normally hidden my WANTED vegetation, etc. Potted up the Yuzu tree I got as well as the Brugmansia and Chaya cuttings. Potted up the ‘Neptune’ Tomato seedlings….my LAST attempt to grow them here. This time I mean it;>!
The Nappas, Green Onions and Leeks have all basically recovered from both Freezes. I’d say I’ve lost about half the Turnips. Most of the Dragonfruit did not survive in the greenhouse. The one’s that did were those cultivars that made long stringy segments like ‘Cosmic Charlie’. ‘Lake Atuan’ the biggest is a squishy mess. It MAY sprout back from the roots so it’s pot stays…for NOW. I’m pretty sure the Malanga’s gone. Should be Interesting if the Pilipino Taro did.
This week the big plan is salvaging the Banana groves. The pups are definitely gone and I’m pretty sure most of the more Mature are dead to the rootmat but I’ll still slowly trim back hoping that at least a quarter of the trunk survives…making a posibilityof fruit this yr….MAYBE.
Cheers,
Pat
