Major Faux Pax

The UN made probably one of the biggest PR mistakes it could yesterday. They pulled all the MD's and nurses from a hospital instead of using their troops to guard it. Appearantly, UN troops are good enough for folks of 3rd World background but for the Frogs!?!
Normally, when they do this sort of thing, no one noticed. Unfortunately for them, they did this while CNN's Sanjay Gupta was reporting for Anderson Cooper's show...while the cameras were running!So, Andy has HRS of coverage where his reporter and his camera crew are the only medical help for a UN hospital. One esp poinient is an ambulance that pulls up with 4 seriously wounded folks and the crew is down to using hand sanitizers.....

Well at least he honored his oath. I looked it up and was surprised not to see much, then I remembered that most of the newspapers have shot tehmselves in the foot by pulling their headlines off Google.

I shouldn't be surprised. From the reports of my friends who'd been Stationed in Afghanistan, the UN won't come into an area until their SOLDIERS feel that they're safe. Yup. They prefer to only go where no one actually NEEDS soldiers. Folks oft confuse Humanitarian org like Doctors WIthout Borders with the UN. The UN medical personnel are hired workers, not volunteers and they react to violence pretty much the same way your local Kaiser Permanente clinic workers would...
Every yr it gets harder for the UN to get moneys from America and this is just going to reinforce the idea that they are spineless and craven...
