mdehners...isn't always a Strength. No where is this more apparent than in the alt.rel community(ies). It's biggest Weakness is in the area of Communication.
It's a Lewis Carroll kind of world. Meanings of individual words are different from Way to Way and often from Person to Person. This means that nothing but the most Superficial of intercourse can be accomplished. May be great for coffee klatches or potlucks but for anything Deep to be done? Nope.
This also means that once folks are beyond the "101" stage, they don't have anything Real to say to each other outside their particular Way(and if yours is Created by Yourself:>). Without an Outside Stimulus forcing them to work together....they WON'T. Not really.
An example is that a lot of folks will decry the lack of posting on online forums but the VAST majority of those SAME folks won't, even if you ask them a direct question;>! It's a big reason about 99% of my lists/groups/etc will be discommed on New Yr's.
Diversity's big Strength is that it makes it harder to Kill Off. It's biggest Weakness prevents it from GROWING...
