mdehnersBoth of us are ready Mentally to Move. The final "straws" inmy case happened this week; the last of my fruit trees with fruit was stripped AND our new neighbors' dogs have fleas....which have been tracked in. So both Chuck and the cats are flea-bitten. Apparently, my Meds make me taste bad and I've not been bitten;>. Butch is Allergic to them as well. The poor thing has scabby welts everywhere.
A few yrs ago I noticed that I'd lived longer here on Hummingbird Home than any previous residence. The next longest had been the house I spent Middle and Highschool in. It's also the 1st time I've been in a place long enough to watch the neighborhood change.
When we Moved in this was mostly Retired Military and their Widows. Clean, quiet, polite. A nice place to live. By 5 yrs ago they had all either Passed or had been Moved by their families. Modern buyers(with the exception of the Gay couple down the street)don't find WWII and earlier bungalows appealing. So they mostly became Rentals or basically abandoned. And so this is what it's like here NOW.
My "time" in Seattle and DC "cured" me of thinking of "sketchy" neighborhoods as "exciting". At my age and health....not that big of a fan of "Exciting";>!
