"Supporting Your Own"....

mdehnersFor most folks, this is fairly easy because by definition "Most Folks" are the dominant group;>. If you aren't or even worse of most than one minority group you've got a rough Path to Walk.
In my case I have "My Other Tribe" and that of the alt.rel.community. In general, I haven't had much problem with the former. Before the Internet you pretty much couldn't tell that the owners were gone a couple of times a yr for Pride/Party/Gathering/Faire/etc. The majority I do business with now simply place a notice on their site that orders post ___ will be filled ___. Easy-Peasy.
Now, my alt.rel vendors OTOH seldom do that. Even when they ARE up and running their delivery post cashing is, well "sketchy". And yes, this also includes some Heathen run businesses as well. One of those I've been told I'm Blacklisted(not that I'd ever place an order again anyway;>)because after almost 60 days AFTER the delivery date I'd been given I'd contacted EBay's Customer Complaint dept since in all that time I NEVER even received a reply to my MANY emails. But I'M the Bad Guy;>....
When you find a vendor of your own People that's at least competent, Support them. If not, DON'T. There are enough lazy, self-absorbed folks out there for you to "Enable" another to "Follow Their Bliss". Sadly, unlike most Gay run businesses most alt-rel ones are part-time, oft started to give the owner a little pocket cash for their Enjoyments(Gatherings,Festivals, Drugs, etc). It's seldom the means of survival and so their is lttle Incentive to make it a success....
