just probably not the reasons most do;>. I HATE the planned obsolescence. Everything's designed to fail after a couple of yrs so that it has to be replaced. I mean, I can Understand. after all, we live in a Capitalist economy that requires folks to constantly buy, even stuff we don't need to keep it running. Also, much of our population is both lazy and shallow. I can turn on the boob-tube at any hr and find a handful of shows exhorting folks to throw out perfectly good appliances simply because the colour doesn't match their planned new paintjob(well, with a few exeptions where they make folks work and like repaint them like I've done since the 70's).
As someone who just "broke" a lawnmower because it can't handle 4" grass, I pine for the days when you had a big, heavy metal smoke-belching monster that lasted for more than a decade and could scarf down small shrubs.
Now, for some folks, their Income is such that these experiences are not only Acceptable, it's part of their lives. As a nurse I NEVER had the disposable income to "remodel". Repaint, change a few things out sure(I AM Gay after all;>)but to gut a room simply because I was "bored" with it's looks? NEVER.
I'm Sooooo tired of Disposable EVERYTHING!
Truth,
Pat
